Managing projects, regardless of size, requires paying close attention to details and creating and implementing action plans that produce quality products on time and within budget.

  • Produced the Aerias Third Annual National Symposium: Protecting Indoor Environments and Building Occupants. Invited and coordinated speakers and all meeting arrangements. This 2.5-day event featured 23 top speakers in the indoor air quality industry. Produced and edited a proceedings from the symposium, all copies of which were sold out within six months.
  • Led a team that conducted an extensive literature review and analysis of more than 100 scientific papers regarding how indoor air quality impacts productivity in the US hospitality industry, culminating in a comprehensive 50-page report.
  • In one year directed the design, editing and production of the Primer on the Rheumatic Diseases, ninth edition, the AHPA Arthritis Teaching Slide Collection and Instruction Guide, six issues of a monthly medical publication Bulletin on the Rheumatic Diseases and four issues of the AHPA Newsletter. Achieved consensus with more than 100 international authors on changes to their chapters and articles for the Primer on the Rheumatic Diseases. Exceeded all project schedule, budget and sales goals.
  • Analyzed Arthritis Foundation professional publications product lines to determine sales projections and budgeting goals, including a detailed analysis of the Primer on the Rheumatic Diseases. Developed and implemented short- and long-range plans to market the Primer, the AHPA Arthritis Teaching Slide Collection, the Bulletin on the Rheumatic Diseases, and Joint Movement.
  • Managed the manuscript review process for the Industrial Engineering & Management Press, a division of the Institute of Industrial Engineers, recommended publishing priorities, including facilitating focus groups, and developed project plans for all proposed titles, including editorial reviews, marketing strategies, and project schedules and budgets. Developed a style guide and performed quality control checks of manuscripts during the production process.
  • Rejuvenated and managed the Industrial Engineering & Management Press’ acquisitions program from fewer than five book proposals under consideration to filling the publishing calendar of seven titles per year for 1990 and 1991.
  • Managed a two-year project to update, redesign and expand Southern Prosthetic Supply Company’s product catalog, including task analysis, scheduling, budgeting, and negotiating and administrating contracts with suppliers. Emphasis was on cost control while producing a quality product.
  • Produced and scripted the opening Plenary Session at the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers’ biannual international meetings, including developing the concept, writing, and producing the opening and honors and awards video presentations.
  • Planned and produced a two-day Grand Opening Celebration for Siemens Electromechanical Components (SEC), including building dedication of SEC’s headquarters, guided building tours, luncheon for community leaders and invited guests; multi-image slide presentation featuring employees; and a day-long employee-family open house and picnic. Managed a volunteer committee.
  • Directed advertising sales, editorial content, design and production of all publications for the American Orthotic and Prosthetic Association, American Academy of Orthotists & Prosthetists, and the American Board of Certification for Orthotics and Prosthetics. Publications included AOPA Almanac, Clinical Prosthetics & Orthotics – C.P.O. and Orthotics and Prosthetics. Brought publications back on schedule, improved their quality and turned the publications department into a profit center.
