As a writer, I am well aware that a picture is worth a thousand words. As a photographer, I strive to create images that tell a story, spark a fond memory or elicit a special smile. I specialize in capturing people, dogs, cats, and other critters in natural light, with a street photography approach. I also specialize in using textures and digital painting techniques to create unique and dramatic photographic art.
I know animals in action. My husband, Peter, and I have two German Shepherd Dogs. Although they are well trained as sport dogs, they also are our companions. When they are not working on the IPO (Schutzhund) field, they exhibit all the nuttiness and fun of any pet, including chasing dragonflies, bees and balls.
In 2007, Peter and I self-published an award-winning soft cover, coffee table book, entitled The Sport of Schutzhund: A Photographic Essay. In 2015, we self-published The Sport of Schutzhund: A Photographic Essay - Fine Art Edition. These two books are the first and only photographic books that comprehensively depict all phases of the popular working dog sport IPO (Schutzhund). In 2008, the first edition received an Award of Excellence from the Printing & Imaging Association of Georgia.
I also am the editor and primary author for The Art of Schutzhund Photography blog, which is dedicated to promoting and enhancing Schutzhund photography as compelling art form. While I am not posting to this blog presently, archived postings are still available for your perusal. I am a member of Professional Photographers of America.
